ICT TrainingOur ICT courses cover a range of skills from word processing through to spreadsheets and databases, Desk Top Publishing, PowerPoint and Electronic Communication - internet, email. The clients are taught skills that they will use either in the workplace or in home computing. Clients who have completed CLAiT 2006 examinations have been 100% successful and received the OCR Diploma for IT Users. This is a magnificent achievement and demonstrates their commitment and hard work. Most of our clients study and gain CLAiT 2006 certificates and then progress to ECDL. On its yearly quality audit by the British Computer Society Our Celebrations ECDL Test Centre achieved the highest level (grade A). ECDL students continued the excellent level of success with a pass rate of 91%, the 9% who failed succeeding at the second attempt. On completion the students usually progress into the Design and Print Studio, Voluntary Work or Further Education.
We have recently improved the project by introducing a "Communication" session for one hour a week and this has been received with great enthusiasm. We discuss various "news" topics and in the future we will be looking at items with good Business English, including the display of a good business letter with the need for accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar. We will also cover spreadsheet work - keeping a track of one's own budget via a spreadsheet. Database will be covered to plan a topic of the choice of the student and then each student will present a slide show to the rest of the team. Students will receive e-mails and send e-mails and will learn to surf the internet for subjects of their own choice. The subject areas have been specifically chosen to provide skills often missing due to illness or breaks in education. The courses are delivered in a modular format allowing participants to continue studying even if they need to take breaks due to illness or relapse.
Delivered from within our specialist training kitchen and ICT suite, the qualifications offered from the courses include Equal Skills, CLAIT and ECDL.
