Stepping OutThis was a short, sharply focused training project designed for those making good progress with their recovery, but who still needed to work in a supportive environment. Most of those attending the course were already nearer the job market than those on Blueprint. In addition to improving clients’ employability, the training sessions clearly helped them improve their life skills and increase their confidence. Each course lasted for 10 weeks and there were 12 places on each course. Stepping Out was funded by the Learning and Skills Council and the ESF. Although the project was a success, it closed in March 2007 when the contract came to an end and no alternative funding sources were available. A delay in the new ESF programme has meant that no new tendering opportunities will arise before the end of 2007. Securing funding for a similar project will be a priority for us in the coming year. |
